Awardees for the year 2011-12 Selected!

Dear Friends and Well-wishers,

The MAES is extremely pleased to inform you that the Selection Committee has finalized the names of four applicants to be awarded the Malayali Academia Higher Educational Grant for the academic year 2011-12. Two of the selected candidates are form Jawaharlal Nehru University, and two are from Jamia Millia Islamia.

The Selection Committee found that most of the applicants were deserving candidates for the Grant. However, due to shortage of funds, we are constrained to award the Grant to only four candidates this year. The decision to select these four candidates was taken solely on the basis of economic backwardness as a criterion. We hope that in the coming years the MAES shall be able to reach out to many more deserving Malayali students in Delhi. 

Details of GBM held on 21st October, 2011

Friends,

Given the low turn-out in today's GBM, it was decided that a fixed General Body would have to be constituted with formal membership. In this regard, the GBM has empowered the Executive Committee to start a membership drive in the campuses of JNU, Jamia, and DU. A nominal fee of Rs. 10/- would be collected along with the membership, and the funds thus collected would be utilized as a working fund for the activities of MAES.

The GBM also decided that a bank account in the name of the Treasurer of MAES would have to be opened at the earliest. The GBM also empowered the Fund-Raising Committee to commence its activities.

Call for General Body Meeting

Friends,

The Executive Committee, in its meeting convened on 9th October 2011, has decided to call for a General Body Meeting on 21st October 2011. This GBM is to be held at Students' Activity Centre (TEFLAS) at 5 P.M. The purpose of this GBM is to discuss the issues related to fund-raising and other related activities. We encourage all to attend this GBM in large numbers.

15 Applications Received

Dear friends and well-wishers,

MAES has received 15 applications for the Malayali Academia Higher Educational Grant from students belonging to Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jamia Millia Islamia, and University of Delhi. The Selection Committee would now be handed over the task of selecting the deserving candidates at the earliest. A meeting of the Executive Committee would be convened to finalize the number of students to be awarded the Grant. Also, the Fund-Raising Committee would soon begin the process of collecting contributions for the Grant. Your active support is solicited in ensuring the success of our further activities.

Scholarship for Higher Studies in Delhi: Applications Invited

"Malayali Academia Higher Educational Grant (2011-12)'' : Malayali Academia Educational Society invites applications for its educational grant for Malayali Students pursuing their higher education in Delhi. The grant would be exclusively aimed for the students who are economically struggling in their higher studies at graduate and post graduate level. Students from Humanities, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences stream can apply for the grants.

Interested candidates may download the application form here. The completed form should reach at Muhammed Haneefa, Room. No. 257, Jhelum Hostel, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi-110067. 

Deadline for Application: 30 August 2011.  

Students who are waiting for entrance examination results and who have more than one year left to complete their course can also apply.

Update: General Body Meeting on the 29th of April

The Executive Committee of Malayali Academia calls for a General Body Meeting to be held on Friday, the 29th of April, 2011, at Arts & Aesthetics Lawns, JNU, at 0530 PM. The agenda for the meeting is as follows:

1) Approval for introducing the Malayali Academia Higher Educational Grant from the coming academic year 2011-2012.
2) Initiating modalities toward the framing of the bye-laws of the Malayali Academia Educational Society.
3) Delegate duties to the Executive Committee regarding the collection of funds within a specified time-frame.

Scholarship for Higher Studies in Delhi: Applications Invited

"Malayali Academia Higher Educational Grant (2011-12)'': Malayali Academia Educational Society invites applications for its educational grant for Malayali Students pursuing their higher education in Delhi. The Grant would be exclusively aimed for economically backward students from the Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Humanities streams. 
Interested candidates may download the application form here. The completed forms should reach "Malayali Academia Educational Society, Room No. 257, Jhelum Hostel, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi - 110067 on or before August 30, 2011.

Students who are waiting for their entrance exam results and who have more than one year left to complete their course would also be eligible for the grant.
